Bran Sivakumar is a leading London plastic and reconstructive surgeon working within world-renowned centres of excellence for paediatric care – Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Portland Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic in London.
Alongside his NHS work he maintains a well-established private practice. He is committed to providing the highest possible standard of care to all his patients.
Mr Sivakumar graduated from the Royal Free Medical School in 1998, which included a bachelor of sciences degree in Anatomy at University College London. After 3 years of training in general surgery he became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) in 2001. He went on to complete an extensive plastic and reconstructive surgical training program and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2010 (FRCS Plast).
Throughout his career Mr Sivakumar has maintained an interest in clinical and scientific research. As part of this cutting-edge work he completed a doctorate (MD) at the RAFT Institute of Plastic Surgery and Imperial College London. This work was awarded a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons research grant. He has published extensively in both scientific and clinical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He has also presented at both national and international meetings and has received an international research award at the European Conference of Scientists and Plastic Surgeons (ECSAPS) in 2005.
Mr Sivakumar continues to be involved in medical research and supervises both MSc and PhD projects at University College, Kings College London and the National Institute of Medical Research. In addition, Mr Sivakumar is an honorary senior lecturer at the Institute of Child Health. He is actively involved in teaching at a postgraduate level participating in Royal College of Surgeons instructional courses and lecturing to specialist plastic surgical trainees from the UK and abroad as well as being on the invited faculty for a number of national and international symposia on children’s hand surgery including the World and European Congresses for Children’s Hand and Upper Limb Anomalies.
Mr Sivakumar is a full member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
